Drive analysis and reporting for health and medical data used by management and medical professionals.
Responsibilities:
Research and extract relevant information using data collection methods, patient charts, medical records, health statistics, and epidemiological data aligned to program objectives and reporting requirements. Set up and apply administrative and systems controls over data collection to ensure conformance with Westchester Medical Center program requirements. Collaborate with a team to define parameters for a model used to begin collecting and analyzing data based on existing information. Analyze and evaluate data to identify trends and service indicators. Operate, monitor, and manage automated equipment to process data according to program instructions with minimal errors or malfunctions. Maintain, modify, and develop personal computer based data processing and software applications. Serve as a liaison with data processing, professional and technical staff, and vendors providing contracted services. Review and incorporate new reporting requirements by updating existing information systems to meet those needs. Provide training and technical assistance to in-house users to support workflow and employee skill development. Review user manuals and system applications and recommend revisions to meet operational objectives. Control data storage to support an effective retrieval system. Prepare reports with supportive charts and graphics interpreting collected data, including forecasts needed for program planning. Establish and maintain detailed records and files of supporting documentation for future reference. Develop reporting formats to satisfy regulatory requirements and management information needs. Consult with medical professional staff on data and trends reflected in reports.
Requirements:
Either 4 years of experience with the primary function of statistical analysis of health or medical data using statistical software or relevant software (SPSS, SAS, Access, or Oracle); or 4 years of experience with the primary function of systems analysis of health or medical data programs, including analyzing and reporting required information. Bachelor's degree, required. A Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or statistics, or a Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology or biostatistics may be substituted for the required experience. A Master's degree including at least nine credits in epidemiology and/or statistics may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement. Education beyond secondary level must be from a post-secondary, degree-granting institution recognized or accredited by the Board of Regents of the New York State Education Department.
