About the role

AI Engineer Principal Been with Fedex for 14 years – commercial, then freight, then moved to Clearance (very fast and chaotic) Global clearance teams – have applications that support business like scanners, movement package applications, support custom clearance. Really all things clearance in a nutshell. Most of team is here in US – one team supporting LATAM, and have international applications with them. Most apps are US inbound shipments but do have some apps that support globally Clearance modernization. I'm leading clearance organization - I have execution piece of it with development. For this role I want a person who can be a change agent with AI best practices. Most of my team, 8- percent of FTE have licenses for AI assist tools like Claude. Devs are coding first and then using AI to verify. I want this to change where this principal would come in and instill that change and provide direction to team for how to use tools, how does architecture look like, how can we build agentic AI*** looking for communication. Someone with an architectural background since we're moving towards modernization. Preferably have experience with cross collaboration with business teams. My team moves forward quickly with the business Tech perspective: I don't have that much hands on experience with tools like Claudie, github copilot. Exp developing AI native applications
Location: Memphis – hybrid to come into office a couple times a week – add in hybrid other office locations Encourage to post as remote to make it easier. Can always add location/hybrid preferences to domicile information on posting. Process: post for a week and then review resumes, RPS, then go straight to panels. If we have to seek external approval then she'd like to do a HM screen in between
Team Size/Makeup: 5 managers, each manager has around 6-9 FTEs (45 FTEs) - roll up to one of her managers and not her

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
