Support Engineer - Critical Power & Power Electronics
Location: Phoenix, Arizona or New Berlin, Wisconsin Our client is seeking an experienced Support Engineer - Critical Power & Power Electronics to join their growing team based in Phoenix, Arizona or New Berlin, Wisonsin. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled engineer with a strong background in power electronics, critical power systems and high-power electrical equipment, looking to join a specialist engineering business working on complex power systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing remote technical support, fault diagnosis and troubleshooting, alongside the commissioning, maintenance and servicing of high-power electrical and critical power systems at customer sites. The role will be split approximately 50% between virtual technical support and 50% travel, working directly with customers and field technicians to diagnose complex issues, oversee safe working practices and ensure the reliable operation of mission-critical equipment.
Key Responsibilities: Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, and emergency repairs on a wide range of UPS systems and critical power equipment. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and rectify faults on UPS systems, battery systems, inverters, rectifiers, static switches, and power distribution equipment. Carry out commissioning, start-up, testing, and system verification of new UPS installations. Conduct site surveys, system inspections, and performance assessments Support customers during planned maintenance visits and emergency call-outs.
Candidate Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Power Electronics or a related discipline. Minimum 4+ years' experience in a Field Service Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Power Electronics Engineer, Critical Power Engineer or similar role. Strong experience with power electronics and high-power electrical systems, including commissioning, troubleshooting and fault-finding. Direct UPS experience is beneficial but not essential. Experience working with high-voltage/medium-voltage systems, with strong electrical safety knowledge, alongside excellent customer-facing skills and willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time across the US.If you have a strong background in power electronics, high-power electrical systems or critical power, with experience in commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting and fault-finding, and are looking for your next challenge in a customer-facing engineering role, we’d love to hear from you.
