About the role

Area DirectorReporting to the Senior Director of US CORE, the Area Director is responsible for driving revenue growth, Membership growth, retention, and overall business performance within their assigned market. The AD serves as the business leader of the area, developing and executing strategic growth plans that increase Chapter performance, strengthen Member engagement, and expand BNI's market presence.The Area Director leads a team of Director Consultants and Ambassadors while creating a culture of accountability, performance, and excellence. Through data-driven decision making, coaching, and business development initiatives, the AD ensures that Chapters and Members achieve measurable business results while contributing to the growth and profitability of the region.Key Areas of ResponsibilityBusiness Growth & Market DevelopmentDevelop and execute annual growth strategies to achieve Membership, retention, launch, and revenue goals.Drive market expansion and penetration opportunities and oversee new Chapter development initiatives.Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective Members, Chapter opportunities, and leadership talent.Drive net Membership growth through strategic recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives.Analyze market trends, Chapter performance metrics, and business reports to identify opportunities and risks.Partner with Regional Development to develop and execute area growth plans aligned with market objectives.Performance LeadershipEstablish clear performance expectations, KPIs, and accountability measures for Directors, Ambassadors, and Launch Directors.Coach team members to improve results in Chapter growth, retention, visitor conversion, leadership development, and Member engagement.Utilize reporting and analytics to evaluate Chapter health, identify performance gaps, and implement corrective action plans.Foster a high-performance culture focused on measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.Conduct regular business reviews to assess progress toward area goals and strategic initiatives.Team Leadership & Talent DevelopmentRecruit, develop, and retain high-performing Directors, Ambassadors, and Launch Directors.Lead onboarding, training, and professional development initiatives for all area team members.Build collaborative leadership teams that support growth objectives and operational excellence.Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to maximize team effectiveness.Create succession plans and leadership pipelines to ensure long-term market sustainability.Chapter Success & Member ValueEnsure Chapters have strategic growth plans that support Member success and long-term sustainability.Drive initiatives that increase Member engagement, participation, and retention.Support Chapter leadership teams in executing growth, visitor attraction, and Member development strategies.Champion programs and events that strengthen Member experience and increase business opportunities for Members.Collaborate with support teams to proactively address Member concerns and retention risks.Operational ExcellenceEnsure consistent execution of BNI systems, standards, and best practices.Plan and deliver area trainings, leadership development programs, recognition events, and growth initiatives.Monitor budgets, resources, and operational priorities to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.Partner with Operations and Member Support teams to ensure a seamless Member experience.Maintain compliance with organizational policies and ethical business practices.Core CompetenciesSales EffectivenessPerformance ManagementLeadershipDecision MakingStrategic ThinkingRequired QualificationsProven leadership experience with responsibility for business growth, sales performance, or operational results.Demonstrated ability to develop and execute growth strategies that achieve measurable business outcomes.Strong understanding of sales, marketing, customer retention, and performance management principles.Experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.Strong analytical and business decision-making skills with the ability to interpret data and drive action.Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.Entrepreneurial mindset with a results-oriented approach to leadership.Physical Demands & Working Conditions Maintains an active field-based presence with approximately 60% travel within the assigned market. Work is performed across office, home office, and field environments, including meetings, events, and on-site chapter support. The role requires regular computer use, including repetitive hand and wrist motion, and the ability to view and analyze information on a screen for extended periods. May occasionally lift or move items up to ten pounds.This is a full-time position.
