About the role
- Build in the field
- Embed with the customer, observe real workflows, and translate what you see directly into working software
- Own features end-to-end: spec, build, ship, validate in the field, iterate
- Build data ingestion and transformation pipelines that turn legacy materials – PDFs, scanned drawings, spreadsheets, tribal knowledge – into structured, trustworthy asset data
- Engineer for real conditions
- Design for offline-first, low-connectivity, and field-hostile conditions; assume dirty inputs and imperfect capture
- Build AI/ML-assisted workflows (OCR, extraction, classification, agentic tooling) and – critically – the validation layers that make their output safe to rely onWrite the automated checks that keep correctness from regressing as the system grows
- Close the loop
- Turn one-off customer solutions into durable product where the pattern generalizes
- Partner with the forward-deployed PM on requirements, acceptance criteria, and rollout
- Instrument what you ship and use adoption and error data to decide what to build next
- 5+ years building and shipping production software
- Strong full-stack capability: TypeScript/JavaScript and React or React Native, a backend language, and SQLComfortable owning a feature from ambiguous problem statement to deployed, adopted software with no one specifying it for you
- Experience with data pipelines, integrations, or document/data ingestion at real-world messiness
- Excellent communication with non-engineers; you can sit with a foreman and leave with a spec
- High tolerance for ambiguity, and a bias toward shipping and iterating over waiting for certainty
- PreferredElectrical background or adjacent experience (single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, equipment naming conventions, arc flash and NEC context)OCR / ML-assisted extraction, computer vision, or LLM-agent tooling in production
- Mobile development, especially offline-first sync
- Experience as an early engineer at a startup, or in a forward-deployed / solutions-engineering role
- Comfort working on-site with customers
- Experience with developing or running software quality programs

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
