About the role

Implementation Engineer | APIs & Integrations Chicago, IL | 4 days in office$140,000–$150,000 base + $25,000 variable
About the Company: We're partnering with a fast-growing global e-commerce technology company whose platform supports more than 30,000 businesses worldwide. With an established international presence and an expanding US market, the company is growing its technical team to support increasingly complex customer implementations.
About the Role: This is a hands-on, technical role for someone who knows APIs, understands how systems connect, and enjoys solving complex integration problems. You'll own customer implementations from discovery through launch, working directly with customers to understand their technical environments, configure integrations, troubleshoot issues, and develop solutions. This is not a traditional implementation or project coordination role. You'll be expected to investigate problems, work with code and data, and take ownership of getting things working. The role is well suited to someone with experience in Integration Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Technical Consulting, or a similar customer-facing technical position.
What You'll Do: Own customer implementations from discovery through launch. Configure and troubleshoot REST API integrations across e-commerce platforms and third-party systems. Investigate API errors, data issues, and integration failures using JSON/XML, databases, and code. Use Python and/or PHP, Postman, and AI coding tools to troubleshoot issues and develop solutions. Lead technical discussions with customers and manage implementations through resolution.
Required Experience: Strong hands-on REST API experience, including testing and troubleshooting integrations. Experience in Integration Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Technical Consulting, or a similar technical role. Working knowledge of Python and/or PHP, JSON/XML, and databases. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work directly with customers on technical challenges.
Nice to Have: Experience with e-commerce or retail technology, platforms such as Shopify or WooCommerce, and tools or concepts such as webhooks, API authentication, and data mapping.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
