About the role
Park Maintenance Supervisor II The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of State Parks manages and administers 52 state parks encompassing nearly 25,000 acres on the 5 major islands. These parks offer varied outdoor recreation and heritage opportunities. The park environments range from landscaped grounds with developed facilities to wildland areas with trails and primitive facilities. As a Park Maintenance Supervisor II, you'll lead the maintenance and operations of over 6,000 acres of park areas and historic sites in the Kauai Parks Section, West Kauai Unit. This includes iconic parks such as Kokee State Park, Na Pali Coast Wilderness Park, Polihale State Park, Russian Fort Elizabeth State Historic Park, Waimea Canyon State Park, and Waimea State Recreational Pier. As an important member of our team, you'll oversee the upkeep of campgrounds, historic structures, comfort stations, cabins, water systems, access roads, parking areas, cultural sites, and scenic resources —ensuring they remain safe, clean, and accessible to the public. Another key part of your role will also be to educate the public on State Parks rules and regulations, provide a respectful and responsible experience for all, while promoting the stewardship and protection of Hawaii's unique culture and natural beauty, ensuring these iconic locations are preserved for generations to come. Minimum Qualification Requirements To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Specialized Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of semi-skilled or skilled building trades experience concerned with such activities as constructing or maintaining buildings, shelters and other similar wooden or concrete structures; making repairs to the same in order to keep them in operating condition and to extend their serviceability and usefulness; inspectional experience involved in checking various phases of construction against detailed plans and specifications. Supervisory Aptitude: Demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision, e.g., by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; or by the completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; and/or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential. Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
