Position Overview:
The Surgical Coordinator plays a crucial role in our healthcare facility, ensuring the smooth and efficient coordination of surgical procedures from scheduling through post-operative care. In this role, you will work closely with our podiatrists, patients, and healthcare providers to seamlessly manage all aspects of surgical care.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with hospitals, surgical centers, and patients.
Obtain required insurance verifications, pre-authorizations, and clearances prior to surgery.
Educate patients on pre-operative instructions and post-operative care expectations.
Serve as the primary point of contact between patients, podiatrists, and external medical facilities.
Maintain accurate records within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Languages: Bilingual (Spanish speaker) is required.
Experience:
Previous experience in a healthcare setting (1+ years preferred).Experience in surgical scheduling or coordination preferred.
Core Competencies:
Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures.
Proficiency with computer systems and Electronic Health Record (EHR) software.
Strong understanding of insurance verification and authorization processes.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills with strong empathy for patients.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills with fine attention to detail.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
