About the role

The Benefits Analyst provides comprehensive administrative support for the University Health System's insurance and benefit programs. You'll serve as a trusted resource for employees and house staff, helping them understand their benefits, resolving complex coverage issues, and partnering with insurance carriers, plan administrators, and third-party providers to ensure timely and accurate solutions. Key Responsibilities: Administer and support University Health System insurance and benefit plans for employees and house staff. Serve as a knowledgeable and responsive resource for employees, providing clear information regarding benefit plans, coverage, procedures, policies, and limitations. Partner with insurance carriers, plan administrators, and third-party providers to investigate and resolve complex benefit and coverage issues. Assist plan participants in understanding benefit provisions, eligibility requirements, coverage limitations, and applicable policies. Process, review, and audit insurance invoices and claims reports to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement. Research and apply federal and state legislation affecting benefit administration and maintain working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements. Conduct regular audits of Leave of Absence files to ensure accuracy, compliance, and appropriate benefit administration. Identify issues and recommend solutions that improve benefit processes, accuracy, compliance, and the employee experience. Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee and benefits information. Provide consistently courteous, professional, responsive, timely, and accurate service to employees, visitors, callers, and other stakeholders.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits administration and related processes.
  • Thorough understanding of legislation and regulations affecting benefits, including: ERISA
  • Section 125/Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
HIPAA COBRA FMLA Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and PC-based applications, including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing. Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications: Three or more years of recent experience administering or providing customer service for insurance benefits, COBRA, and related benefit programs. Experience auditing benefit invoices, claims, and employee records. Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and data analysis. Experience working with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and other benefits vendors.
