Join Heartland Human Care Services as a volunteer tutor Our adult learners come from all over the world and have diverse educational backgrounds and English proficiency levels. As a volunteer tutor, you can support immigrants and refugees in: Improving English skills for everyday communication Developing digital literacy, from basic computer skills to navigating online tools Building skills for employment, including resume writing, interview practice, and workplace communication Preparing for U.S. citizenship by practicing English skills and the civics test Why volunteer? Flexible schedule — meet weekly at times that work for you One-on-one or small group tutoring sessions tailored to your learner's goals Online or in-person (Chicago locations in Belmont-Cragin, Ukrainian Village, and Uptown neighborhoods) No prior teaching experience required — we provide training and ongoing support Gain valuable experience in teaching, mentoring, coaching, and intercultural communication Join a community of volunteers dedicated to expanding educational opportunities Help adult learners from around the world gain the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
