Role Description:
This is a full-time, on-site Aerospace Machined Parts Mechanical/Plate Inspector role based in Torrance, CA. The inspector is responsible for performing dimensional and visual inspection of machined aerospace components, plates, and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards. Day-to-day tasks include using precision measurement tools, reviewing mechanical and CAD drawings, documenting inspection results, and collaborating with engineering and production teams to resolve nonconformances. The role also involves assisting with incoming, in-process, and final inspection, maintaining inspection records, and supporting continuous improvement of quality processes. Adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements is essential in all aspects of the work.
Qualifications:
Strong mechanical aptitude with skills in Mechanical Engineering concepts and Mechanical Inspection of aerospace machined parts.
Proficiency in Inspection techniques, including dimensional and visual inspection, and use of precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM or similar).
Ability to read and interpret Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models and engineering drawings, including GD&T and tolerance specifications.
Experience with Maintenance practices related to inspection equipment, tools, and shop-floor instrumentation.
Background in Aerospace or similar precision manufacturing environments is beneficial for understanding complex components and tolerances.
Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 quality systems, document control, and nonconformance reporting is preferred.
Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work accurately under production schedules.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality team members.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or coursework in machining, mechanical inspection, or engineering technology is a plus.
Ability to stand for extended periods, handle aerospace components safely, and comply with all workplace safety procedures.
