About the role
We're seeking an Enterprise Report Writer to assist with creating a self-service reporting environment: Looking for an Enterprise Report Writer with Postgres and PLSQL skillsFTE position, onsite in Chicago (1 day remote)Contract position- 100% remote from anywhere--------------------------------------------------------------------Core Technical SkillsMEDITECH Expanse Database (MAT/NPR) Experience Advanced SQL (TSQL)- Post GRES SQLJoins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions Aggregations, parameterized queries Performance-aware query writingSQL Server Reporting ToolsSSRS (legacy/onprem) and/or Power BI Report Builder Building datasets, data sources, and report parameters Paginated reports (for operational reporting)Data Modeling Fundamentals Understanding star/snowflake schemas Working with views, stored procedures, and curated reporting tables Knowledge of metrics definitions and business logic layeringETL/Query Performance Awareneness Index awareness, query tuning basics Recognizing inefficient report queries Understanding how data refresh/processing impacts reporting Reporting & Self-Service Design Skills Semantic Layer Design Creating reusable, business-friendly datasets (gold layer)Standardizing calculations and definitions to avoid “metric drift"Self-Service Enablement Designing reports that are intuitive for non-technical users Building filters, slicers, and parameter-driven reports Structuring data for ad hoc exploration (not just static reports)Data Visualization & Storytelling Choosing the right chart types and layouts Translating data into actionable insights Clarity, simplicity, and usability over complexity Team Player & Ability to Lead
