About the role

Everytown for Gun Safety's Creative team is seeking a talented, experienced Associate Art Director with the drive to create inspiring work that resonates with and motivates a diverse audience. The Creative team collaborates closely with every team and program across the Everytown, Moms Demand Action, and Students Demand Action brands, using design to unify our message to end gun violence. The Associate Art Director reports to the Creative Director and is expected to be a visual design leader on the team, helping set and communicate the visual direction for dynamic, compelling graphic assets across social media, video, email, web, print, merch, and more. The right candidate will be on top of today's visual design and communication trends, thoughtful, organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about using design to help power a movement comprising a vast range of participants—from grassroots volunteers to legislators. The Associate Art Director must be a player-coach, able to both lead and execute across creative projects. The Associate Art Director should be fluent in all facets of the creative process, know industry best practices, and be willing to collaborate, to take risks, and test creative when appropriate. This is a full-time position with Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, based in our New York City office, following a hybrid work schedule.

WE TRUST YOU TO:Bring an experienced perspective on major projects with lasting brand implications for our organization Serve as a design resource and creative strategy partner for teams across the organization Develop creative concepts and designs for print, digital, merch, and video Drive design on new and existing campaigns through thoughtful content consideration. Own motion graphics and work closely with Content and Video teams to develop dynamic visuals and maintain the brand throughout our video projects Develop, refine, and help enforce the organization's brand guidelines and best practices. Develop and execute concurrent high-quality designs on deadline Work closely with cross-functional Digital team partners, Web, Content, Video, Email, and Paid Media; help drive large-scale, cross-channel brand initiatives from concept through execution, ensuring alignment with broader org goals Support the Creative Director in setting project goals, determining scope, process, and deadlines for major projects Manage Creative team interns Mentor and provide guidance to other designers on the team, helping strengthen execution and scale best practices across the team Uphold the value of good design within the team and across the organization with a strong commitment to our brand and craftYOU WILL HAVE:BA, BFA, MFA, or equivalent agency or in-house design experience 8+ years of experience Believes in the mission of ending gun violence and sees design as an instrument for social and political change Excellent visual design skills, with an emphasis on strong typography Experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (including After Effects), Figma, Frame, and Asana Proficiency in content development for major social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTokExcels in a fast-paced, quick turnaround environment A portfolio that showcases a design point of view and demonstrates mastery of type, color, composition, and visual systems in static and motion components Understand how stereotypes, bias, and forms of racism in America (including structural racism, implicit bias, gender bias, religious bias, ageism, and bias based on gender identity or sexual orientation) impact our society, with an expectation that you will develop an ability to articulate the connection between these large societal issues and the disproportionate impact of gun violence on specific demographic groups in AmericaNICE TO HAVE:Illustration skills On-set experience Experience with or interest in incorporating AI-centered workflows DIVERSE WORKFORCE AND OPEN CULTURECandidates who identify as members of historically underrepresented groups are highly encouraged to apply to Everytown.
