About the role
Join Animal Care’s nationwide team of professionals dedicated to protecting animals and promoting humane treatment across the country! We’re seeking a skilled Veterinary Medical Officer (VMO) to support critical program areas, ensuring the humane care and treatment of horses regulated under the Horse Protection Act (HPA). This role leads problemsolving on complex welfare issues using the latest research and program developments. We’re looking for someone to: Serve as an expert witness for the APHIS in enforcement actions involving HPA violations Identifies key industry partners, animal interest groups, and agencies that influence horse protection standards Represents Animal Care as the equine regulatory liaison, supporting national and international outreach Contributes content for presentations, professional publications, and educational programming If you’re passionate about advancing animal welfare, influencing national policy, and representing a mission-driven federal program, this is your opportunity to make an impact! This position is office based and is not eligible for remote arrangements. We are currently seeking candidates who reside in one of the following locations: Fort Collins, Colorado; Montgomery, Alabama; Uxbridge, MA; Cordova, TX; Murfreesboro, TN; Raleigh, North Carolina; West Boylston, Massachusetts; Austin, Texas; Boise, Idaho; and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
