Remote, USA Contract to hire We are seeking a passionate Data Scientist to solve data analytics problems. The Data Scientist will be part of the enterprise data analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) group focused on developing unique data driven products. The ideal candidate will have mathematical and statistical expertise, along with natural curiosity and a creative mind. While mining, interpreting, and cleaning our data, this person will be relied on to ask questions, connect the dots, and uncover hidden opportunities for realizing the data’s full potential. As part of a team of data analysts and engineers, the data scientist will “slice and dice” data using various methods and create new visions for the future. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director, Data Science. The position location is flexible, but the placement must be willing to travel quarterly. Data mining or extracting usable data from valuable data sources ~ Using machine learning tools to select features, create and optimize classifiers ~ Carrying out preprocessing of structured and unstructured data ~ Enhancing data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing analytic systems ~ Processing, cleansing, and validating the integrity of data to be used for analysis ~ Developing prediction systems and machine learning algorithms ~ Collaborate with Business and IT teams ~ Builds actionable data visualizations that identify areas of opportunity and help drive Excellence at scale. ~ Be curious, creative, opinionated thinker with a talent for detecting patterns and elevating through strategy ~ Embrace and drive a culture of data-driven, continuous improvement and help identify, analyze, and implement improvement opportunities ~ Maintains regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department ~ Follows all Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and Private Insurance regulations and requirements ~ Abides by all regulations, policies, procedures and standards Successfully mining, interpreting, and cleaning data to uncover hidden opportunities for realizing the data’s full potential. ~ Developing and optimizing machine learning classifiers and prediction systems. ~ Enhancing data collection procedures and ensuring the integrity of data used for analysis. ~ Collaborating with Business and IT teams to propose solutions and strategies to tackle business challenges. ~ 5+ years of data and analytics ~ Bachelor’s Degree, (BA/BS) in Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and/or experience ~ Programming Skills – knowledge of statistical programming languages like R, Python, and database query languages like SQL, Hive, Pig is desirable. Familiarity with Scala, Java, or C++ is an added advantage. ~ Proficiency in statistics is essential for data-driven companies. ~ Machine Learning – good knowledge of machine learning methods like k-Nearest Neighbors, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests. ~ Strong Math Skills (Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra) – understanding the fundamentals of Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra is important as they form the basis of a lot of predictive performance or algorithm optimization techniques. ~ Data Wrangling – proficiency in handling imperfections in data is an important aspect of a data scientist job description. ~ Experience with Data Visualization Tools like matplotlib, ggplot, d3.js., Power BI, or Tableau that help to visually encode data ~ Excellent Communication Skills – it is incredibly important to describe findings to a technical and non-technical audience. ~ Strong Software Engineering Background ~ Hands-on experience with data science tools ~ Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every qualification.
