Senior Business Development Manager | Technical Infrastructure & Energy Solutions (NY)
Key Responsibilities: Market Expansion & Business Growth Identify and secure new opportunities across commercial, healthcare, higher education, municipal, institutional, and real estate markets. Establish relationships with building owners, developers, facilities executives, property management firms, contractors, consultants, and end users. Develop and execute a territory growth strategy focused on increasing market share throughout the New York region. Represent the organization at industry associations, networking events, conferences, and trade organizations. Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities generated through direct outreach and relationship development. Technical Solutions Sales Promote and position solutions including: Engineering and consulting services Construction and project management services Commissioning and performance verification programs Building optimization initiatives Energy efficiency projects Mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure upgrades Smart building and automation systems Sustainability and carbon reduction programs Renewable energy technologies Design-build and turnkey project delivery solutions Client Advisory & Solution Development Conduct discovery meetings and facility evaluations. Collaborate with technical and operations teams to create customized client solutions. Develop value-driven recommendations that align with operational and financial objectives. Provide guidance regarding regulatory compliance and building performance requirements. Identify funding or financing strategies that may help clients successfully execute projects. Opportunity Capture & Proposal Leadership Manage strategic pursuits from identification through contract award. Lead proposal development efforts and coordinate internal resources. Partner with technical teams to define scopes, pricing strategies, and deliverables. Navigate both public and private procurement environments. Maintain ownership of client communication throughout the business development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of business development or technical sales experience within construction, engineering, facilities, energy, or infrastructure markets. Demonstrated ability to originate and close business through networking and relationship building. Strong understanding of the NYC commercial construction and facilities environment. Existing network of owners, developers, healthcare organizations, educational institutions, contractors, consultants, and industry stakeholders. Knowledge of HVAC systems, MEP infrastructure, building controls, and facility operations. Excellent presentation, communication, and proposal development skills. Experience utilizing CRM platforms, Microsoft Office applications, Linked In, and modern business development tools. Ability to travel throughout the New York and surrounding tri-state region.
Preferred Experience: 10+ years developing professional relationships within the New York City marketplace. Experience selling engineering, commissioning, project management, or design-build services. Proven success working with commercial real estate, healthcare, institutional, or enterprise-level clients. Familiarity with local building performance and sustainability regulations. Track record securing projects ranging from consulting engagements through large-scale capital improvement programs.
