About the role

Veteran Volunteers Needed: Honor Those Who ServedThe bond between veterans is unlike any other. As a Level 4 We Honor Veterans hospice program, we're seeking veteran volunteers to support fellow veterans receiving end-of-life care. Whether through conversation, shared memories, or simply being present, your service can bring comfort, dignity, and connection when it matters most. As a Veteran Volunteer, You May: Visit veteran hospice patients for companionship and support Participate in veteran recognition and pinning ceremonies Support special veteran-focused events and initiatives Offer understanding rooted in shared military experience What We Ask: Flexible commitment—typically 1–2 visits per month Service opportunities throughout the Kansas City metro and at John Knox Village Compassion, reliability, and respect for confidentiality No hospice experience is required. We provide comprehensive training, ongoing support, and We Honor Veterans education. This is an opportunity to continue serving in a meaningful way—ensuring that no veteran faces the end of life alone and that every veteran is honored for their service. Join us in making a lasting difference.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
