Ministry Requirements
Worship Responsibilities
Administer sacraments (baptism, communion)
Preach regular Sunday and special services
Collaborate with music and staff to oversee all aspects of worship, including liturgy, music, prayer, and the overall flow and direction of the worship service
Create service scripts and select hymns in collaboration with the Director of Music and Communications
Maintain the annual preaching schedule, setting special events and deciding Christian holiday service details
Supervisory & Staffing
Supervise Associate Pastor(s), Business Manager, Director of Music and Communications, and Parish Associate
Lead weekly staff meetings and conduct annual reviews
Develop the team, build rapport, approve continuing education, and provide strategic staffing vision to ensure the needs of the whole church are met
Pastoral Care
Support members in times of joy and concern
Session
Moderate Session meetings and serve as staff liaison to various committees and task force work; currently includes these committees: Worship & Evangelism, Stewardship, Administration & Personnel, Finance, Buildings & Grounds, Membership & Nominating, GPC250, Security and the Board of Trustees
Partner with Session to set vision, annual budgets, and priorities
Work with the Administration & Personnel Committee on staff performance and hiring
Support visioning for the marking of the 250th anniversary of GPC
