Mon-Fri 0700-1600 Work Mode: OnsiteLocation: 513 Parnassus AvenueResponsibilities: Conduct animal health surveillance for rodents and other species as assignedCommunicate lab and health information to researchersSupport website functionUnderstand and participate in rodent sentinel health or similar programsDraft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Provide training to Lab or LARC staffUnderstand and perform necropsy techniques and other diagnostic or clinical diagnostic techniquesUnderstand and perform administrative tasks as needed by LARCAssist LARC's animal health and rodent health programs and support LARC veterinarians and company research projectsRequirements: Bachelor's degreeAbility to lift 30 pounds; standing, walking, bending, and stooping at regular intervalsWorking with animals of various sizes for periods of up to 4-5 hoursValid California Driver's license and participation in the California DMV's Pull Notice SystemAbility to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to 7 hours/dayAbility to push and pull heavy objects and safely move and/or lift heavy loadsPerform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipmentMandatory participation in the department's occupational health monitoring program and pre-employment medical evaluationPreferred Skills: Demonstrated ability to independently analyze lab reports, summarize findings, and communicate resultsExcellent organizational, computer, and technical skills for database management, file maintenance, spreadsheets, and word processingProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to review data, research protocols, or other written documents and provide guidance or trainingPossess or have demonstrated aptitude for quickly obtaining a working knowledge of regulations and animal welfare requirements
