Field Subject Matter Expert – OSP Fiber

Role Purpose:
Lead OSP fielding activities for fiber deployment projects by ensuring accurate field data collection, constructability validation, quality compliance, and readiness for engineering, permitting, and construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage aerial and underground OSP field surveys for fiber network deployments. Validate field data, identify constructability issues, and resolve site conflicts. Mentor field teams and drive adherence to fielding standards, quality, and safety requirements. Conduct field package audits and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, Permitting, Vendors, and Construction teams. Ensure compliance with NESC, NEC, OSHA, MUTCD, DOT, utility, and local authority requirements. Knowledge of permitting and utility requirements. Leadership and team development capability. Stakeholder collaboration and issue resolution. Safety and compliance adherence.
Required Skills & Experience:
5+ years of OSP fielding, telecom construction, or fiber engineering experience. Strong knowledge of aerial and underground fiber infrastructure and ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. Experience with pole attachments, overlash feasibility, pole transfers, clearance assessments, and make-ready reviews. Understanding of ROW, municipal, DOT, utility, and railroad permitting processes. Ability to assess field risks, constructability concerns, and engineering impacts. Proven leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience supporting U.S. telecom operators and fiber deployment programs. Expertise in field quality audits, training, and performance improvement. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in field environments. Tools & Technologies Engineering/GIS Tools: IQGeo, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Spatial Net, Micro Station, Bentley Comms, BSTCAD, Katapult, Aramis, Waldo, NDS, Firework, Google Earth/KMZ.Field Tools: GPS, laser rangefinder, measuring wheel, height stick, pull finder, and mobile fielding applications.
