About the role

STEM Expert
Position: STEM Expert
Type: Contractor
Compensation: $80–$150/hour
Location: Global, Fully Remote
About the Opportunity: We are seeking experienced STEM and Scientific Experts to support an AI training project focused on technical problem-solving, scientific reasoning, data analysis, and Python-based workflows. You’ll solve, review, and validate challenging problems within your area of expertise, evaluate AI-generated solutions, and develop rigorous reference answers. This is a coding-heavy role, and candidates must have experience using Python and coding agents in their workflow. Expertise in at least one STEM discipline is sufficient; candidates are not expected to cover every scientific field.
Key Responsibilities: Solve complex scientific, mathematical, or technical problems within your domain. Review AI-generated solutions for scientific, mathematical, and factual accuracy. Identify reasoning errors, incorrect assumptions, missing constraints, and technical mistakes. Develop clear and reproducible reference solutions. Use Python for scientific computation, data analysis, simulations, and validation. Interpret equations, datasets, experimental results, technical diagrams, and scientific literature where relevant. Perform sanity checks and validate analytical or numerical results. Clearly explain technical reasoning, corrections, and conclusions.
Required Qualifications: Strong expertise in at least one relevant STEM or scientific domain, such as Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Earth/Environmental Science, or Robotics. Practical proficiency with Python and coding agents. Strong scientific, mathematical, or quantitative problem-solving skills. Ability to evaluate assumptions, constraints, edge cases, and sources of error. Experience validating, reviewing, or troubleshooting technical work. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with scientific Python tools such as NumPy, SciPy, pandas, SymPy, or Jupyter. Background in academic research, industry, teaching, engineering, or independent technical work. Experience evaluating AI-generated technical or scientific outputs. Compensation Competitive compensation of $80–$150/hour. Output-based compensation, with payment per task that meets project specifications. Approximately 15 hours per week with a flexible schedule. Experts can choose their working hours and days, including weekends. 10 positions available.
Application Process: Submit your application and complete the screening questions. Complete an approximately 30-minute AI interview. Complete the hiring manager review. Complete onboarding and begin project work if selected.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
