Cabinet Maker / Custom Millwork Craftsman Our client is a high-end architectural millwork shop that is seeking a dependable, skilled Cabinet Maker to join their production facility. This role blends traditional craftsmanship with modern shop machinery to build premium custom architectural millwork, commercial casework, retail fixtures, and specialty countertops. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, sharp attention to detail, and proven competency setting up woodworking machinery and interpreting technical fabrication drawings. Exceptionally punctual daily attendance and steady output to support team schedules and meet project deadlines is required.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication, Machining & Assembly: Continuously verify dimensions against shop drawings to accurately measure, mark, cut, and shape hardwoods, softwoods, veneers, and panel products (plywood, MDF, particleboard, HPL, and solid surface) ensuring tight tolerances, flawless joinery, and seamless component fitment. Safely set up and operate shop machinery, including panel saws, table saws, edge banders, compound miter saws, joinery equipment, and CNC machinery. Build and assemble high-end casework, cabinetry, and architectural fixtures utilizing laminates, wood veneers, specialty metals, and glass. Fabricate custom countertops and surfaces using plastic laminates, wood products, and solid surface materials. Inspect and match lumber and veneers for grain continuity, color balance, and surface texture. Accurately install hinges, drawer slides, catches, locks, and related architectural hardware.
Shop Operations & Safety: Maintain an orderly workstation, clean up scrap materials, assist in routine machine maintenance, and report mechanical issues promptly. Support inventory management for hardware, sheet goods, and consumables; maintain required shop logs and production tracking sheets. Strictly follow all shop safety protocols, wear required PPE, and immediately report safety hazards. Qualifications & SkillsHands-on experience in cabinet making, architectural millwork, commercial casework, or custom finish carpentry. Ability to read and interpret technical shop drawings, cutting lists, and architect specifications. Confident, safe handling of woodworking power tools, pneumatic fastening equipment, and precision hand tools. Working familiarity with hardwoods, engineered panel products, high-pressure laminates (HPL), solid surface, and architectural veneers. Strong time management, steady pacing in a production setting, and a pride-in-craftsmanship approach.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Active, full-time shop floor environment. Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stair climbing throughout the shift. Ability to safely lift, position, and handle materials and sheet goods weighing up to 50+ lbs.
