About the role
Lead Healthcare That Makes a Difference Join a mission-driven team at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Managed Care where your clinical expertise and leadership have a direct impact on patient outcomes. As the Correctional Unit Medical Director, you will oversee the delivery of comprehensive healthcare services within a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) facility, ensuring timely, high-quality, and accessible care for an underserved patient population. Working with significant autonomy, you will provide medical oversight, exercise independent clinical judgment, and ensure compliance with TTUHSC Correctional Health Services policies, TDCJ regulations, and National Commission on Correctional Health Care standards. In addition to providing patient care, you will lead and mentor a team of physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, fostering a culture of clinical excellence and collaboration. Reporting to the Regional Medical Director, this role offers a unique opportunity to combine hands-on medicine with leadership while partnering with TTUHSC faculty, healthcare professionals, and correctional leadership to improve health outcomes and advance correctional healthcare.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
