The Field Technician is responsible for executing traffic control operations in accordance with company procedures, TXDOT specifications, and project requirements. Under the direction of the Field Supervisor or Operations Manager, the Field Technician performs these critical functions: Setting up warning signs before a work zone to alert drivers about upcoming changes, lane closures, detours, or hazards. Placing traffic control devices such as cones, drums, barricades, vertical panels, and barriers to guide traffic safely through or around a work area. Lane closures and merges using proper tapers and channelization devices to move traffic safely from one lane to another. Flagging operations, where trained flaggers use STOP/SLOW paddles and hand signals to control one-way traffic through construction zones. Pedestrian and worker protection through temporary walkways, barriers, and safety measures that separate the public from work activities.
