About the role
We are seeking an experienced R&D Tax Credit Preparer to support the preparation and amendment of tax returns involving R&D tax credits. This contract role is focused specifically on applying R&D credits to tax returns and requires hands-on experience filing and/or amending returns with the credit. Experience conducting R&D tax credit studies alone is NOT sufficient for this engagement.
What You’ll Do:
Prepare and amend tax returns to incorporate R&D tax credits Apply R&D tax credit calculations appropriately within tax filings Review tax return information and supporting R&D credit documentation for accuracy Ensure R&D credits are properly reflected on original and amended returns Navigate applicable federal and state R&D tax credit requirements Identify and resolve tax filing issues related to R&D credits Manage assigned returns efficiently based on project volume and deadlines Collaborate with internal stakeholders to complete accurate and timely filings
What We’re Looking For:
Hands-on experience with R&D tax credits and applicable tax laws Demonstrated experience filing tax returns that include R&D tax credits Experience amending previously filed tax returns to incorporate R&D credits Strong understanding of how R&D credits flow through and impact tax returns Tax compliance experience with strong attention to detail Ability to work independently in a remote environment Availability for variable, part-time hours based on return allocation
Nice to Have:
Experience supporting multiple clients with R&D tax credit filings Experience with both federal and state R&D tax credits Broader experience within R&D tax consulting
