About the role

Warbird Consulting Partners, LLC is expanding its network of senior tax professionals to support complex financial institution resolution, receivership, and federally contracted tax compliance engagements nationwide. We are seeking highly qualified consultants with deep experience in financial institution taxation, corporate tax compliance, and the regulatory environments that govern them. Selected professionals will be considered for active and upcoming federally contracted assignments involving resolution activities, compliance, reporting, research, and advisory support. This opportunity is best suited for seasoned professionals who thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments where precision, responsiveness, discretion, and technical depth are essential. Position Highlights Project-based consulting engagements with competitive hourly rates commensurate with experience Mix of remote and onsite work depending on assignment requirements Direct involvement in federally regulated financial institution engagements Exposure to high-level receivership, banking, and regulatory tax matters Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, and analyze complex federal and state tax filings, including corporate, partnership, employment, withholding, and informational returns Support financial institution resolution and receivership-related compliance activities Analyze financial statements, tax records, general ledgers, supporting schedules, and workpapers Research complex federal and state tax matters and provide technical guidance to engagement teams Deliver accurate, timely work product on high-volume, deadline-driven engagements Interface with federal, state, and local taxing authorities as needed Assist with tax controversy matters, including notices, examinations, appeals, and correspondence Maintain compliance with applicable tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements Collaborate with multidisciplinary consulting teams across federally regulated engagements Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field CPA, Enrolled Agent, or other authorization to represent taxpayers before the IRS pursuant to U.S. Treasury Circular 230 At least 10 years of progressive tax consulting and compliance experience Substantial background in public accounting, financial institutions, consulting, or regulatory engagements Strong technical command of federal and state tax compliance requirements Demonstrated ability to analyze complex tax matters and communicate them clearly to technical and non-technical audiences Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and leading tax compliance platforms Proven ability to manage competing priorities under compressed timelines Preferred Qualifications Direct financial institution, banking, or receivership tax experience Prior support of federally regulated or government-related engagements Big Four or large regional public accounting firm background Complex multi-state tax compliance experience Working knowledge of CCH Axcess, OneSource, GoSystem, or comparable tax platforms Track record on large-scale consulting or project-based engagements Additional Information This is a project-based consulting opportunity supporting federally contracted work. Engagement assignments depend on contract awards, task orders, client needs, and deployment requirements. Selected professionals may be required to complete background investigations, credentialing, and onboarding prior to assignment. Compensation is provided during active authorized engagements and approved billable activities. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
