About the role
About Serova
Serova builds personalized cancer vaccines. Each vaccine is made for the individual patient from their own samples and given in partnership with their treating physician. Because every patient gets their own vaccine, we screen a huge number of candidate targets, and speed matters.
The role:
Every patient gets their own vaccine, so we need to test a lot of targets fast. You'll run our high-throughput peptide and TCR screening: testing large libraries of peptides, peptide-HLA complexes and TCRs to find what works for each patient.
What you'll do:
- Run binder screening: peptide and peptide-HLA binders at scale
- Run TCR screening across large libraries
- Design plate-based and pooled screens, and keep them reproducible
- Automate screens on liquid handlers
- Hand clean data to our computational team to train our models
Who you are:
- A bench scientist who thinks in libraries and plates, not single experiments
- Comfortable working alongside computational people and ML models
- Early career is fine if your screening experience is real
- High agency, friendly and low ego
Requirements:
- An MSc or PhD in immunology, protein engineering, bioengineering or similar
- Hands-on high-throughput screening: display libraries, pooled screens or plate-based assays
- Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, or willing to relocate
- Authorized to work in the US, or a realistic path to get there
- What will make you stand out
- Peptide, peptide-HLA or TCR screening
- Experience at a high-throughput biology startup, such as a protein testing or screening platform
- Display and library methods: yeast, phage or mammalian display, pooled screens
- Computational fluency: structural bioinformatics, or ML on immune repertoires
- You run liquid handlers and write your own robot methods
- Training in a strong systems or synthetic immunology lab

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
