Clinical Nurse Educator Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is a leading community partner providing acute, residential, and Partial Hospitalization treatment for children and teens exhibiting behavioral and/or mental health concerns. The hospital provides high quality care to children, adolescents and their families using quality, evidence-based practice treatments. Founded in 1986, Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is a 106-bed hospital facility accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) and licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).
Position Description:
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible for all entities of Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health by providing staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. Serves as a role model for Service Excellence behavior and incorporates service excellence information in all educational programs.
Job Duties:
Responsible for the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. Ensures that educational programs are current and responsive to changes in nursing practice while also being congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals. Supports growth and development of both nursing and mental health technicians and Implements team building programs. Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required, Master of Science in Nursing preferred. Current state of Virginia RN license or compact license required and BLS provider certification is required. BLS instructor certification preferred. Requires 3 years of applied clinical experience as an RN in a health-related field or as a Clinical Educator or Instructor. A master's degree in nursing may be substituted for 2 years of required experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Mental Health Nursing experience preferred. Advanced computer skills in Microsoft office. Knowledge of Audiovisual equipment set up.
Physical requirements:
The physical requirements for this position include being able to stand, squat, kneel, sit and lie on the floor for long periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The incumbent must be physically capable of providing direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent, mentally ill patients as necessary including lifting, supporting, running towards or away from areas where problems are occurring and pushing and pulling equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers and beds. Ability to successfully perform the facility crisis intervention training, CPR.
