Salary:
$130,000-150,000 We are seeking a highly experienced Automotive Safety/Restraints Engineer to lead the design, development, validation, and production launch of critical safety systems including seatbelts, airbags, steering wheels, and related sensors. This role will drive cross-functional and supplier collaboration throughout the vehicle development lifecycle, while overseeing CAD design, DFMEA, validation, change management, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of Seatbelts, Airbags, Steering wheels, sensors, and other safety related hardware for our vehicles from concept through production. Track and maintain product development performance, timing, and commercial targets Collaborate closely with cross-functional to maintain a strong alignment and execution to achieve vehicle and company level goals. Lead the development and design in CATIA V6 using generative shape design, part design, and other tools. Lead change management activities in 3DX and execute the build and release of restraints bill of materials. Lead DFMEA development with other internal teams and implement risk mitigation action items across all engineering and manufacturing groups. Develop and execute product validation plans and sign-off on validation results. Provide support to the Innovation and Customization Center (ICC) during key vehicle build milestones or new process implementation. Point of contact for all Suppliers who provide products or services to the Safety Integration group: Validation, Quality/PPAP, and vehicle build MRDs. Ensure all program milestones are met and risks documented Management of relevant regulations applied to restraints development (FMVSS, ECE)Integration of restraints development with CAE Crash Safety Strong organizational skills to quickly and regularly update management on status of developments.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science in Engineering discipline 10 years developing, validating, and launching safety components in automotive systems Proficient in in CAD modeling in CATIA V6 or other design software Strong working knowledge of FMVSS, ECE, GB safety regulations Strong working knowledge of NCAP, IIHS, and other consumer rating protocols. Strong self-starter mindset. Ability to effectively manage all responsibilities and prioritize according to engineering, program, and management direction. Ability to travel to supplier HQ and manufacturing locations as needed during validation reviews, production line runs, and system test support.
