Substitute Paraprofessional Steamboat Springs School District is seeking qualified Substitute Paraprofessionals. Ideal candidates will have previous education experience, a desire to work with all students and all grade levels, and be able to work with changing roles on a daily basis. Upon completion of all district employment requirements, candidate will be considered eligible for active substitute consideration by the schools. This position will be substituting in all paraprofessional positions, including special education, preschool and health room. These positions are active for the current school year only and all will be asked to reapply annually. The District uses AESOP (Absence Management Program)/Frontline for contacting daily Substitute Paraprofessionals on an as-needed basis. This position is considered a temporary position for the school year and is paid on an hourly basis $26.11 per hour. As a temporary/on call position it is not eligible for benefits. General Responsibilities:
In the course of a normal day, you may be asked to assist in various capacities. Substitute Paraprofessional responsibilities generally include assisting school personnel with daily activities; providing assistance in and out of the classroom; managing traffic control/student crossings; assisting with recess/lunchroom supervision; performing office/clerical duties; working closely with parents, teachers and students; operating various office machines/computers; maintaining a good work record/punctuality; maintaining confidentiality, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Ability to maintain discipline with large groups of students Ability to work independently without direct supervision Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, staff, co-workers, administrators and parents High level of proficiency in clerical, secretarial and computer skills Physically able to perform the following on a daily basis Ability to occasionally lift items weighing 50 lbs.; Ability to stand for long periods of time, withstand frequent pushing, pulling, squatting and reaching; Ability to withstand exposure to the outdoor elements including extreme cold, extreme heat, rain, snow and other mountain climatic conditions; Possess sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to perform responsibilities as described Ability to maintain confidentiality

An incorrect decision made by this position could impact the district legally causing financial condition of district to be affected. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process.
Technology Skills: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spread sheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology.
