About the role
Job Purpose:
The Mechanical Engineer specializing in Rotating Equipment holds a position that involves overseeing the maintenance of rotating equipment at the Plant. This individual collaborates with various departments and station management to assess equipment condition, plan projects, and implement improvements to enhance facility reliability. The primary responsibilities include managing System and Plant performance, Mechanical Devices, Steam Turbines, Pumps, Valves, Piping, Supports, Material Handling Equipment, and Plant Auxiliaries using engineering principles to deliver technical support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Offer technical advice to departments on processes, procedures, repairs, and projects
- Assist in project development and material supply and installation evaluations
- Lead and assist in project execution to ensure budget and schedule adherence
- Coordinate contractor activities for testing and maintenance
- Participate in various station programs and activities such as Root Cause Analysis, unit evaluation, outage planning, Safety Observation Program, Management of Change assignments, and 5-year budget development
- Collaborate with maintenance and contractors to interpret PdM data and implement corrective measures
- Support outage development, execution, and documentation for assigned equipment
- Monitor equipment health and processes through participation in various meetings and trend analysis
- Interpret Blueprints, Technical drawings, Schematics, and Computer-generated reports
- Manage backlog of assigned Work OrdersEnsure compliance with all permits and regulations
- Take ownership of decisions, performance, and behavior
- Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Steam turbine experience preferred
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in steam power plant operations
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mechanical systems
- Proficiency in personal computers and software applications
- Experience with OSIsoft PI, AutoCAD, Intertek AWARE, Maximo, Emerson Ovation, TapRoot is beneficial
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent communication skills, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Aptitude for managing stress and working flexible hours when needed
- Complete pre-employment exams, drug/alcohol tests, and background checks
