About the role
Groundskeeper - $12.00/HOUR A local university needs Groundskeepers! A groundskeeper maintains and cares for the exterior grounds of properties, including planting, mowing, watering, and fertilizing lawns, trees, and shrubs; tending to flowerbeds and ornamental features; and performing seasonal tasks and clearing debris. They operate and maintain various equipment, manage supplies, and may assist with minor repairs and preparing sites for special events. Groundskeepers work in diverse environments, such as parks, athletic fields, campuses, and are essential for keeping these areas safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. Key Responsibilities Lawn and Plant Care: Plant, water, fertilize, and maintain lawns, plants, shrubs, hedges, and flowers. Grounds Maintenance: Rake leaves, trim trees and shrubs, weed flowerbeds, and spread mulch and other landscaping materials. Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, etc. Seasonal Tasks: Perform seasonal duties such as clearing snow and ice from walkways and parking lots. Site Preparation: Assist with preparing athletic fields, parks, and other areas for events and recreational use. Pest and Disease Control: Inspect plant materials for pests and diseases and apply pesticides or other chemicals as needed.
