Position Overview: A leading international diversified conglomerate is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to support the growth and development of its Food & Retail business portfolio in the U.S.This is a highly visible role working across business development, strategy, investments, and portfolio company growth. The Senior Business Development Manager will identify and evaluate new business opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and support initiatives designed to create long-term value across the organization's Food & Retail businesses..
Key Responsibilities: Identify, research, and evaluate new business opportunities within the Food and Retail sectors, including potential investments, partnerships, strategic alliances, and growth initiatives. Conduct comprehensive market, industry, competitive, and financial analysis to assess business opportunities and make informed recommendations. Support the development and execution of business development and growth strategies across the organization's Food & Retail portfolio. Build and maintain relationships with prospective partners, operating companies, investors, and other key stakeholders. Work collaboratively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to advance strategic initiatives and achieve both quantitative and qualitative objectives. Support business development projects from initial evaluation through execution, including: Strategy development Financial analysis and investment evaluation Operational improvement New business launches Partnership development Post-merger integration Identify opportunities for collaboration and synergies across portfolio companies and business units. Provide strategic insight and timely analysis regarding U.S. Food & Retail market trends, competitive developments, consumer trends, and emerging opportunities. Partner with international colleagues and stakeholders on cross-border initiatives and strategic projects. Support portfolio companies and operating businesses in executing business strategies and achieving growth objectives. May have the opportunity to work directly with a portfolio company or operating business on strategic initiatives and value-creation projects. Independently manage assigned projects and workstreams while maintaining close communication with senior leadership. Travel domestically and internationally (minimally) as needed. Take on additional strategic projects and initiatives as directed by senior leadership.
Qualifications: 4+ years of professional experience in business development, corporate strategy, strategic planning, consulting, or a related field. Experience within the Food, Retail, Consumer Products, or related industries strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related discipline required; MBA preferred. Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate: Market and industry trends Business plans Financial statements Investment opportunities Competitive landscapes Financial and operational performance
Ideal Candidate Profile: The successful candidate will be a strategic and commercially minded business professional who enjoys identifying opportunities, solving complex problems, and turning ideas into actionable business initiatives. Candidates with backgrounds in corporate development, business development, management consulting, consumer/food strategy, corporate strategy, or diversified global organizations may be particularly well suited to the role. Experience working across cultures and with international stakeholders is a plus.
