Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Commercial Property Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the financial operations related to our commercial real estate portfolio, ensuring accurate accounting practices, regulatory compliance, and insightful financial reporting.
Responsibilities: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards. Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform detailed account analysis using accounting software such as Yardi and Quick Books. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including processing invoices, tracking payments, and ensuring timely collections. Conduct bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records. Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjustments for month-end and year-end closing procedures. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for property portfolios through detailed spreadsheet analysis using Excel functions like VLOOKUP and pivot tables. Assist with audit preparations by providing supporting documentation and explanations of financial data. Collaborate with property management teams to ensure proper financial reporting of leasing activities, rent collections, and expense allocations. Maintain meticulous records of all financial transactions related to property assets, including lease agreements, wills, trusts & estate law documentation when applicable. Experience Proven experience in corporate or governmental accounting within the real estate or property management sector. Strong knowledge of financial concepts such as double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and general ledger accounting. Demonstrated proficiency with financial software including Quick Books, Yardi Microsoft Office Suite (Excel especially), and other relevant accounting tools. Ability to interpret complex financial reports through detailed analysis and report writing skills. Excellent analytical skills with a focus on Excel data analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management. Strong organizational skills with the ability to mentor junior team members while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
