About the role
TLA is seeking a skilled and proactive Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our organization's critical IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure system reliability, performance, and security, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust technological solutions that align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities System Design & Implementation: Design, configure, and implement secure, scalable, and resilient IT system architectures across cloud and on-premises environments
System Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor system health, performance, and availability using monitoring tools, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing effective solutions to ensure high uptime
Automation & Scripting: Standardize and automate repetitive operational processes and tasks using scripting languages to improve efficiency and reduce human error
Troubleshooting & Support: Conduct high-level root-cause analysis of service interruptions and diagnose complex hardware, software, and network issues, establishing preventive measures
Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security measures, including firewalls, access controls, and data encryption, ensuring compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements
Collaboration & Documentation: Collaborate with software developers, network engineers, and project managers, and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing and audits
Capacity Planning & Management: Manage backup, disaster recovery, and failover solutions, and conduct capacity planning to forecast future growth and scalability requirements
Requirements Required Skills and Experience Education: A Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Computer Science or IT
Experience: Typically requires 3-5 years in systems engineering or administration
Experience with operating systems like Linux and Windows Server, virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell)
Strong knowledge of networking principles
Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible
Soft Skills: Analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Certifications and Qualifications Certifications such as Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or CompTIA Network+ or Security+ are preferred.
