About this Position The Traffic Technician I or II assists with day-to-day schedules, maintenance, and repairs of the city's traffic signals, street light systems, signs, and pavement markings. They perform locates, repair faults, record data, and drive a city vehicle (bucket trucks).The Traffic Technician works with voltages as high as 480 vacs, and they may work on a ladder or climb poles. (The max bucket truck working height could be as high as 50 feet.)This position operates on a schedule of 10-hour days for a four (4) day work week, subject to callback and overtime as required.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier 2 years (Tech I) or 3 years (Tech II) of related experience and/or training Possess the following International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certifications: Traffic Signal Level I (Field and Construction)Traffic Signal Level II (Field and Construction) (Tech II only)Roadway Lighting Level I (preferred)Signs and Markings Level I (preferred)Work Zone (preferred)
Responsibilities: Assist and repair streetlights with voltages up to 480 vacs Assist in the repair of traffic signals Repair streetlights while leading a crew Repair faults Oversee and perform locates Perform duties related to sign and pavement marking maintenance Assist in repair of traffic signals (Tech II only)
