About the role
Renewyx has partnered with a growing utility-scale solar EPC to find a Director of Estimating for their preconstruction team. If you can lead an estimating group from RFP to submission, know utility-scale solar and BESS inside and out, and want real ownership over bid strategy, this role is worth a look.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and mentor a team of estimators across utility-scale solar pursuits• Own estimating strategy, risk assessment, and bid positioning from RFP through final submission • Review pricing, assumptions, qualifications, and basis-of-bid decisions before submission• Partner with operations, engineering, and business development to keep bids sharp and competitive• Oversee subcontractor and vendor pricing reviews, bid leveling, and scope alignment• Present bid reviews and estimating recommendations to senior leadership
Qualifications:
• Leadership experience managing an estimating team in utility-scale solar or BESS construction• Strong EPC or GC side estimating background, from proposal through submission• Solid grasp of risk assessment, bid strategy, and subcontractor pricing on utility-scale projects• Comfortable leading through tight bid schedules and shifting requirements• Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered Plus:• Experience with BESS balance-of-plant estimating• Familiarity with estimating and takeoff software such as Accubid, InEight, or Bluebeam• PE or CPE credential• Experience with EPC, design-build, or self-perform delivery models𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿:• Permanent, fully remote (US)• A growing utility-scale solar and BESS platform• A leadership seat shaping estimating strategy and team growth• Competitive compensation, strong 401k match, comprehensive health coverage, generous PTO and paid holidays, professional development support If you like building estimating teams and want a hand in shaping the future of utility-scale clean energy, apply today!
