Concrete Finisher - (Senior Equipment Operator)The City of Colorado Springs is looking for a Concrete Finisher for their Public Works department. In this position, you will construct and maintain concrete infrastructure and perform a wide range of construction, maintenance, and equipment-operation duties. These duties include concrete work, site preparation, snow removal, material transport, and general infrastructure upkeep. Work Schedule: 6:30AM - 5:00PM; either Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday depending on crew assignment after hire. We're an accredited pay equity employer! As a Senior Equipment Operator for the Concrete division, you will:Construct and place concrete forms ensuring proper grade, size, shape, and compliance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and engineering specificationsInstall expansion materials, reinforcement bars, keyways, dowels, etc.Assembles and sets formwork that holds concrete to required pitch and depth and aligns forms appropriatelyPlace, screen, and level concrete ensuring proper grade control and compliance with ADA and standard specificationsFinish concrete surfaces utilizing floats, trowels, power floats, and edging and jointing toolsConduct site preparation for concrete work, including tear-out/demolition and preparing earthwork to ensure grade control, elevation, surveys, utilities locates, etc., are complete and accurateSafely operate a single/tandem axle dump truck with plow and sander during snow removal operations and maintenance equipment such as mowing machines, front-end loaders, and air hammersUse, clean, service, transport and make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment and toolsPerform manual labor such as cleaning culverts, mowing, patching potholes, removing debris, and shoveling asphalt and snowSchedule and coordinate the work of assigned staff; serve in a lead worker capacityOther duties as assignedWe are looking for candidates who demonstrate:Knowledge of: Operation and maintenance of the division's full range of heavy power-driven equipmentPractices, methods, and materials used in general construction and maintenance workTraffic laws, ordinances, and rules related to heavy equipment operationsRelated occupational hazards and standard safety practicesMethods and techniques of traffic control and pavement markingBasic principles of civil engineeringAbility to: Safely and properly operate various hand and power toolsRead and interpret maps, sketches, drawings, specifications, and technical manualsPerform basic mathematical calculationsInterpret, apply, and explain pertinent laws, rules, and regulations as well as City policies and proceduresPerform a variety of skilled construction and maintenance tasksTrain and direct the work of othersCommunicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writingMinimum QualificationsEquivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)Five years of full-time, professional experience in related fieldPossess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending chargesPossess upon hire a Colorado Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending chargesPossess or willing to obtain a Colorado Class A CDL within (12) months of hire, not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending chargesTo be considered for this position you must register your CDL (COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE) WITH THE FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse at https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov.Preferred QualificationsThe following qualifications are not required, but they are considered desirable.
