About the role

Lead DTV and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives to optimize existing product designs, reduce costs, and improve overall product value. Analyze product designs, materials, components, and manufacturing processes to identify cost reduction and product simplification opportunities. Develop innovative design solutions utilizing CAD and other engineering tools to improve product functionality, manufacturability, quality, and cost competitiveness. Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to simplify product designs, reduce complexity, and improve manufacturing efficiency. Partner with Product Management, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to evaluate alternative materials, components, suppliers, and manufacturing technologies. Prioritize and execute product improvement opportunities based on business impact, technical feasibility, and customer requirements. Collaborate with Quality teams to analyze warranty claims, product failures, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for design improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 5 or more years of hands-on product design experience Lean or similar continuous improvement knowledge and experience preferred Software experience: CAD/CAM, Microsoft Office Suite, ERP Software Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge Active Listening: Actively attends to, conveys, and understands comments and questions of others Coaching and Development: Provides guidance and feedback to help others strengthen skills Communication: Communicates effectively with others both orally and in writing Detail Oriented: Pays attention to the minute details of a project or task Diversity Oriented: Works effectively in a diverse workforce Leadership: Influences others to perform their jobs effectively Problem Solving: Finds a solution for or deals proactively with work related problems Quality: Able to produce a high quality product with minimal supervision Self-Motivated: Internally inspired to perform a task to the best of ones ability Travel Occasional travel may be required
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Individual Contributor: working team member with no oversight of others and no management responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional lifting of 25 pounds or less, occasional lifting of 26 pounds or more Standing, walking, and sitting throughout the duration of shift, daily Repetitive use of hands and/or fingers, able to reach with hands and arms, and use of vision
