About the role
Ophthalmic Technician My client is looking for an experienced Ophthalmic Technician! This practice is an MD/OD practice with multiple locations. Our ideal candidate is already a certified ophthalmic assistant or technician. Although we are open to speaking with candidates with at least 1 year of Eye Care experience.
Responsibilities:
- Take medical histories and verify information
- Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy
- Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues
- Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam
- Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications
- Explain how to properly use contact lenses
- Help with inventory management
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Completion of an ophthalmic assistant or technician program strongly preferred (COA or COT)
- Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is preferred
- Experience with EMR tools a plus
- Proficient with MS Office tools (outlook, excel, word)
