About the role

We are seeking an experienced Water Project Engineer to support the planning, design, delivery and review of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role will contribute to projects from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design, construction support and commissioning. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, contractors, consultants, regulators and other stakeholders to ensure that technical solutions are practical, compliant and delivered to a high standard. Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates; developing project scopes, programmes and budgets; coordinating surveys, investigations and design inputs; and monitoring progress against agreed technical, commercial, safety and environmental requirements. You will provide engineering advice during construction, respond to technical queries, assess design changes and support the resolution of project risks and issues. The role may involve site visits, inspections and attendance at project and stakeholder meetings. You will also contribute to quality assurance processes, design reviews, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives. Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, water engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant experience delivering water, wastewater, drainage, treatment, pipeline or hydraulic infrastructure projects. A sound understanding of industry standards, health and safety obligations, environmental requirements and project delivery processes is essential. Experience with hydraulic modelling, design software, asset management systems or computer-aided design tools would be advantageous. You will need strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills, excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities. A collaborative approach, attention to detail and confidence working independently are also important. Professional registration or progress towards professional accreditation is desirable, as is experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and working with contractors and external stakeholders.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
