About the role

The Wheeler School seeks an experienced and enthusiastic Head Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach to lead our program beginning in the 2027 spring season. Wheeler is a coeducational, N–12 independent day school of approximately 800 students, with campuses in Providence, Rhode Island, and Seekonk, Massachusetts. A member of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) and the Eastern Independent League (EIL), Wheeler is committed to developing student-athletes who are confident, curious, collaborative, and engaged.
The Opportunity: We’re looking for a coach who will bring strong lacrosse knowledge, energy, and a genuine passion for working with young people. The Head Coach will lead the varsity program while fostering a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture. The ideal candidate will have experience with: Player development and team building Recruitment and college placement Practice and game planning Communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues Coaching athletes across a range of skill levels and learning styles Creating an inclusive team environment grounded in cultural competency Our coaches are collaborative, curious, and committed to continuous growth. Qualifications: Previous high school and/or collegiate coaching experience required Advanced knowledge of lacrosse Strong communication and organizational skills Commitment to student-athlete development and inclusive coaching Schedule This is a part-time, stipend-supported position, with primary responsibilities from March through May, including practices, home and away competitions, team activities, and travel with the team.
