About the role

About the Opportunity: Our client, a large, diversified alternative investment manager overseeing tens of billions of dollars across credit, real estate, private equity, and permanent capital strategies, is seeking a Fund Accountant to join its lending accounting team in New York City. This team supports a private perpetual BDC alongside several vintages of direct lending closed-end funds, SMAs, and rated feeders, representing roughly $10 billion in AUM. The role centers on accounting, financial reporting, SEC reporting, and internal control support for the firm's private BDC vehicles, with additional exposure to private equity funds and new product launches. The position requires four days per week in-office.
Job Responsibilities: Liaise with the funds' external fund administrator to reconcile, validate, and approve monthly NAV calculations Prepare monthly reporting packages for senior leadership, including unaudited balance sheet, income statement, investment performance, and other key metrics Partner with the credit funds' operations team to ensure proper accounting treatment of booked transactions Lead preparation, review, and coordination of SEC reporting deliverables, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K, along with related financial statements, footnote disclosures, and supporting workpapers Serve as a primary point of contact for external and internal audit functions Manage SEC disclosure updates through Active Disclosures, including roll-forward procedures, tie-outs, version control, and coordination with legal, compliance, and audit stakeholders Support and enhance the internal controls framework over financial and SEC reporting Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual investor marketing presentations of fund performance Contribute to special projects and ad hoc requests as needed
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 4-8 years of public and/or private accounting experience in financial servicesBDC and RIC experience highly preferred; registered fund, private credit, or other SEC reporting experience strongly preferred Private equity and/or hedge fund experience a plus Advanced knowledge of investment company financial statement reporting Experience with SEC reporting platforms, preferably Active Disclosures, Workiva, or similar tools is required Advanced Excel skills Highly motivated, fast learner with a proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Excellent communication and analytical abilities Demonstrated interest in using AI, automation, and data tools to improve accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and control processes while maintaining appropriate governance, documentation, and review standards The annual total compensation is up to 300k. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
