About the role

Career Opportunities with Slater Infrastructure Group A great place to work.$145,000 - $165,000 + relocation assistance The project A major utility is closing coal ash ponds near Milledgeville, Georgia by moving the ash into a new lined landfill on the same property. This position entails operating the landfill: receiving the ash, placing and compacting it, and running the liner, leachate and stormwater systems underneath it. What you'd run The whole operation. Roughly 39 people, a rented fleet of 30-plus machines, two working faces running at once, and about 300 truckloads a day coming in. The cell phasing and stack progression - the decisions that determine how much leachate the site generates and how much of the schedule you keep. The relationship with the owner: progress reporting, change orders, requests for information, and schedule updates. Coordination with the other contractors on site, including the crew excavating the ponds and the owner's quality assurance consultant. Budget and production: cost per cubic yard placed, equipment utilization, monthly forecast. A supervision team of four - superintendent, quality manager, safety manager, project administrator.
What we're looking for: 10+ years in heavy civil, landfill or coal ash work, with at least 5 as a project or site manager on something of comparable size. Direct experience operating or closing a lined landfill or CCR unit. Coal ash experience counts for more here than municipal solid waste. You've managed 35 or more people, including salaried supervision. OSHA 30, and either a SWANA Manager of Landfill Operations certification or the willingness to get one in your first 90 days. Comfort with owner-side reporting systems. We use Oracle Unifier on this job. You're on the working face regularly, not only in the trailer. This role covers for the superintendent when he's pulled elsewhere. Helpful, not required Previous work on a large utility or power generation site. Familiarity with state coal ash permitting and the federal CCR rule. A civil engineering or construction management degree - though field experience carries equal weight with us.
What we offer: $145,000 - $165,000 depending on experience. Relocation assistance. Medical, dental and vision; 401(k) with company match; paid time off and holidays. Company vehicle and fuel. A defined 2-3 year project on a single site, 15 minutes from Milledgeville and about 35 from Macon.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
