Are you a natural people person who can keep service running smoothly while spotting new ways to improve the customer experience?We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Assistant Café Manager, Day-Time to help lead our busy café operation.You will work closely with management to oversee day-to-day café operations while helping plan for future growth. You will play an important part in delivering excellent customer experiences, supporting staff and ensuring the café operates efficiently and safely.This full-time Assistant Café Manager position includes a rotating schedule, with shifts across weekends, holidays, early mornings and evenings based on business needs.If you enjoy problem-solving, thinking on your feet and being part of a lively food and beverage environment, this could be the perfect next step for you.Key Responsibilities:Support the daily running of the café during busy service periodsDeliver outstanding customer service and resolve issues professionallySuggest new menu ideas based on customer feedback and trendsHelp develop strategies to attract and retain customersPrepare weekly staff rotas and arrange cover where requiredRecruit, train, and supervise café team membersMonitor stock levels and place supply orders when neededReceive and check deliveries against ordersKeep café costs within budget and identify cost-saving opportunitiesCarry out weekly reporting and share improvement ideasMaintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety standardsEnsure compliance with all relevant laws and regulationsThe CompanyMcCalls Catering & Events is known for fabulous cuisine, innovative event planning and design, and flawless execution at its Events and Café Operations. We believe in the importance of hiring good people, holding them to high standards, letting them follow their passions, and getting out of the way.The PersonYou will need: strong problem-solving ability, well-developed soft-skills, think on their feet, and keep track of all that is going on even as they assist management with planning for future growth.You will bring:2–5 years’ experience in a similar fast casual food and beverage roleStrong communication and people skillsExcellent organisational and time management abilitiesConfidence working under pressureA proactive and solutions-focused approachSound knowledge of food health and safety regulationsCA food handler's license certified, preferable Manger Certified and ABC RBS certificationAbility to remain on your feet for extended periodsThis role requires constant standing and walking. It involves frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 10–15 lbs, occasional lifting up to 30 lbs, and rare lifting up to 100 lbs with assistance.Business awareness and a forward-thinking mindsetA qualification in business administration or business management would be beneficial.Covid vaccination is required for this role.
