About the role

Description: The Contract Specialist is responsible for negotiating downstream contracts in adherence with company and client requirements. This position sits within the legal department, and this individual will work closely with the legal, insurance, procurement, and construction teams. Collaborate with project teams to lead negotiations of the legal articles within the following agreements: Subcontracts, Purchase Orders (engineered equipment and commodities), Engineering Services, Geotech Services, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Event Contracts, Corporate Purchases, and others. Ensure contract language complies with legal requirements and company policies. Address and resolve contract-related issues, disputes, and questions. Collaborate with project teams to review and incorporate project specific flow downs into Burns & McDonnell's corporate templates. Ensure that negotiated terms and conditions comply with company policies and risk profile. Collaborate with legal, procurement, finance and project teams to gather necessary contract information to ensure alignment on terms. Act as a point of contact for contract related inquires, providing guidance to internal stakeholder. Assist project teams with drafting of formal notices to suppliers, subcontractors, and subconsultants. Liaison between project teams and attorneys on the escalation of complex issues. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction, law or related degree and 4 years of related experience required.
  • Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirement required.
  • Good understanding of legal principals and commercial terms and conditions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and proven negotiation skills. Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and perform on multiple negotiations at the same time
  • Self-starter that works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in the EPC industry is advantageous.
