Senior Decision Support Analyst
Position Overview: The Senior Decision Support Analyst provides advanced financial and operational analysis to support strategic and day-to-day decision-making across the organization. This role is responsible for cost accounting oversight, service line analytics, budgeting and forecasting, variance analysis, dashboard reporting, revenue modeling, ROI and pro forma analysis, and month-end close support. The Senior Decision Support Analyst also supports Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation and works closely with finance, accounting, clinical, and operational leadership. The position presents analytical findings directly to the CFO, COO, and clinical leadership and provides supervision, training, and mentorship to junior analysts.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee cost accounting activities and provide detailed analysis of financial and operational performance. Perform service line analytics, including revenue, cost, utilization, and profitability analysis. Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, financial models, and long-range planning analyses. Conduct monthly variance analysis and identify key drivers affecting financial performance. Develop dashboards and management reports to communicate financial and operational trends. Build revenue models and perform ROI and pro forma analyses for business initiatives and service lines. Support the month-end close process through analysis, reconciliation, and reporting. Assist with Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation and related financial analysis. Extract and analyze data from ERP, EMR, decision-support, and other healthcare systems. Perform ad-hoc financial and operational analyses using SQL and other analytical tools. Present findings and analytical insights directly to the CFO, COO, clinical leadership, and other key stakeholders. Partner with finance, accounting, clinical, and operational teams to identify opportunities for improved financial performance and decision-making. Supervise, train, and mentor junior analysts. Ensure reports, models, dashboards, and analyses are accurate, timely, and consistent with organizational requirements.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including: Power Pivot Power Query Advanced financial modeling Experience with Strataor comparable healthcare decision-support systems. Experience with Workday ERPor a comparable enterprise resource planning platform. Experience working withEMR systems, preferably Cerner. Strong analytical, financial modeling, forecasting, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information to executive and clinical audiences.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications: Previoushealthcare or hospital decision-support experience, particularly in a healthcare finance or hospital environment. Experience withSQLfor ad-hoc queries and data analysis. Knowledge of healthcare coding and classification systems, including: ICD-10UB-04HCPCSMS-DRGCPTFamiliarity with healthcare reimbursement methodologies, including HMO, PPO, Medicare, and Medicaid. Experience preparing or supporting Medicare cost reports. Knowledge of healthcare service line economics, reimbursement, utilization, and cost structures. Experience presenting financial and operational analysis to senior executive and clinical leadership.
