About the Company: Our client is an architecture, engineering and interior design firm based in New York, with all three disciplines in house. They specialise in three demanding sectors: mission-critical, data centers and healthcare. Because their architects and engineers sit in the same building, they work together from concept through to construction. They're growing their MEP team and want a Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of HVAC design on complex, high performance projects.
The Role: You'll design mechanical systems for facilities where uptime, resilience and life safety come first. You'll work with senior engineers, architects and clients, and your responsibility will grow as your experience does.
Key Responsibilities: Design HVAC systems for data centers, mission critical facilities and healthcare projects Carry out load calculations, equipment selections and system sizing Design chilled water plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, air handling and exhaust systems Apply redundancy concepts (N+1, 2N) to critical cooling infrastructure Design healthcare HVAC to ASHRAE 170 and FGI guidelines Produce and coordinate drawings in Revit with architecture, electrical and plumbing teams Write specifications and support project documentation Support construction administration, including submittal reviews, RFIs and site visits Work with clients and the design team throughout delivery
What You'll Bring: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering 3 to 10 years of experience at an MEP design consultancy Experience on mission-critical, data center or healthcare projects is a plus not essential Strong knowledge of NYC Mechanical Code, ASHRAE standards and the relevant healthcare codes Confident using Revit and AutoCADExperience with load calculation software such as Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP or similarPE or EIT (a plus, not essential)Clear communicator who enjoys working closely with clients and design teams Why Join Specialise in the most in-demand sectors in the market Work on technically complex systems with real impact Collaborate with architects and engineers under one roof Clear route to step up to Senior or Project Engineer Competitive salary and benefits package Sound like you?
