We are hiring for remote (US only) Principal Storage Network Engineer for a Berkshire Portfolio company to work in our Infra and Ops org.
Position Summary: This person will work with Staff and Sr. Engineers to innovate and build new systems and enhance existing systems. You will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap for our Continuous Availability Fabric, increasing the velocity of delivering products and unlocking new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge supporting large-scale, complex networks for connecting modern distributed storage systems with a strong understanding of high-performance networking protocols and standards.
Position Responsibilities: Lead the design and architecture of Triple-Path Network Fabrics (N+2), ensuring physical or logical isolation between Production, Replication, and Maintenance traffic paths. Implement and maintain the 'Hardened Storage Vault,' ensuring network-level N+3 resilience and high-availability sharding. Optimize connectivity for Bare Metal K8s, Nutanix and or Openstack Access Layers, ensuring seamless driver integration for Ceph and NVMe-oF.Evaluate emerging storage-networking technologies (e.g., NVMe over TCP, S3 Object, and Legacy CIFS/NFS) to recommend strategic infrastructure investments. Configure and maintain high-performance hardware, specifically Dell R660/R760 platforms equipped with Nvidia ConnectX-7 or equivalent high-speed NICs.
Minimum Qualifications: 10+ years of professional experience in Network Engineering. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience. Experience specifically in Storage Fabric Architecture and Design. Experience with storage-centric networking protocols, including NVMe-oF (TCP), BGP, OSPF, and QoS.Hands-on experience with high-performance data center equipment, like Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, and Nvidia/Mellanox fabric switches. Knowledge of Software Defined Storage Networking. Experience solving analytical problems with quantitative approaches related to storage latency and throughput.
