About the role

Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller who will be overseeing daily accounting operations for the company. This role will play a key part in month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, job costing, and internal controls, while partnering closely with project managers and executive leadership to support strategic business decisions. They want this candidate to mold into the Controller position eventually!
Responsibilities: Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations for the company Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting Prepare and review Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports Monitor and analyze overhead budgets and collaborate with department/project leaders on monthly forecasts Manage fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, and notes payable Oversee payroll operations and support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the integrity of the general ledger Support annual audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests Prepare sales and use tax filings and ensure regulatory compliance Develop and improve accounting procedures and internal controls Partner with executive leadership to provide financial analysis and support operational decision-making Mentor and supervise accounting staff, promoting accountability and continuous improvement
